Team Quirks
I’ve been testing my team using battle revolution which isn’t exactly an accurate representation of what it may face, but helps nonetheless. My team did well until I beat the game. Once I attempted stargazer colosseum master battles it became apparent that I had gaps in my team.
I don’t have any ground-type moves. I don’t have flying-type moves (even though I have a flier) and I don’t have any fighting or psychic or rock really for that matter. It makes harming fighting types somewhat challenging.
It makes me rethink my Crobat. Does he really need nasty plot? Will I even use it? Would it be more prudent to ditch nasty plot for a flying-type attack? My only choice for a flying move is Air Cutter which only has a base 55 attack and hits both opponents. He can get Air Slash as well. It has a base 75 attack. The only drawback is that he gets it at level 51—which means I would have to breed another bat. Ugh.
My Jolteon is a mess. I can’t decide between Charge Beam and Thunder. I currently have both moves on him so that I can see whether Charge Beam would be useful. (It has a 70% chance of raising special attack one stage each time you use it.) It would give me something to Baton Pass. Without it, Baton Pass is just a waste of space. I am leaning more towards putting Protect and Rain Dance on him so he can be a Rain Dance starter that just does hellacious Thunder damage.
My original thought with the Jolteon was that I could Baton Pass special attack from charge beam to the Crobat (with his woeful Sludge Bomb) or my Ludicolo. I find that Jolteon is usually out with the Ludicolo, and switching the Crobat in is a waste of time because Sludge Bomb just doesn’t do quite enough damage. And since the Jolteon doesn’t currently have Rain Dance the Crobat is almost always out first.
The Bronzong I never use. He’s awesome on the off chance I throw him out. He’s a tank. But he can’t inflict any damage. I was initially going to put Explosion on him. The problem with that is that I would need to have Protect on at least a couple of team mates. The only one that’s really feasible to put Protect on is the Jolteon. I suppose I could get rid of Rain Dance on the Ludicolo for Protect. Possibly the Scizor doesn’t need it because he’s resistant. Maybe if I put Reflect on him (removing Hypnosis) that would make it easier if the Scizor was out with him.
I thought of putting Earthquake on the Bronzong. I don’t know how much damage that would do. His attack is 113 (he only has a 6 IV in it) but it’s not a stab.
The Ludicolo I love.
The Kingdra could be a little hardier…
The Scizor is pretty good, but I think I should put Roost on him instead of Light Screen. Recovery is a good thing. And I don’t know if the Expert Belt is worth it since he almost never gets super-effective attacks off.
